My Lullaby

A lion bedtime story for kids

A reassuring bedtime story for a child full of big energy at bedtime — a little lion learns that being calm and still takes the most courage of all.

My Lullaby writes a brand-new story every night, starring your own child.

The Little Lion Who Learned the Quiet Was Brave Too

Out on the warm golden grasslands, under a sky turning pink and orange, there lived a little lion named Leo — and Leo had the biggest roar of any cub for miles.

All day long, Leo practised being brave. He puffed out his little chest and roared at the tall grass — ROAR! He pounced on shadows and chased his own tail and roared at the wind — ROAR! "A lion has to be big and brave and loud," he told himself. "That's what makes a lion a lion."

But when the sun sank low and the grasslands grew cool and quiet, and the whole pride began to settle down together, little Leo did not want to stop. "I'm not tired," he insisted, roaring at a passing firefly. "Brave lions don't rest. Brave lions are loud all night long!"

His father, the great lion with the golden mane, lay down in the soft grass and gently drew Leo close with one enormous paw.

"Do you know what takes the most courage of all, little one?" he rumbled, low and warm. "Being quiet. Being still. Letting the day go, and trusting the night to keep you safe. Even the bravest lion needs to rest — and it takes a brave heart to be gentle."

Leo looked up at his father — the strongest, bravest lion he knew — and saw how calm he was, how soft and slow his great breathing had become.

"You mean… resting is brave too?" Leo asked.

"The bravest thing there is," said his father. "Now. Let's be big and brave and quiet — together."

So Leo let his little chest go soft. He let his roar grow small, and then smaller, until it was only a warm, sleepy rumble deep in his chest. He nestled into his father's golden mane, and felt the whole pride breathing slow and safe all around him.

And the little lion with the biggest roar for miles — brave enough, at last, to be perfectly still — closed his eyes, and slept beneath the wide and starry sky.
