My Lullaby

A fox bedtime story for kids

A gentle bedtime story for a curious child whose mind won't slow down — a little fox learns the night's wonders will keep until morning.

My Lullaby writes a brand-new story every night, starring your own child.

Rusty the Little Fox and the Secrets of the Night

In a burrow beneath the roots of an old oak, at the edge of a moonlit wood, lived a little fox named Rusty. His coat was the colour of autumn leaves, and his mind was always, always busy.

Rusty loved the night. While the rest of the wood grew sleepy, his ears pricked up at every sound. What was that rustle in the ferns? Where did that owl fly? What lay beyond the far hill, where he had never been? His thoughts raced from one wonder to the next, and his paws twitched, wanting to chase every single one.

"I can't sleep," he told his mother, spinning in a circle. "There's too much to know. The night is full of secrets, and I want to find them all right now."

Mama Fox curled her warm tail around him and drew him close to the mouth of the burrow, where they could see the whole quiet wood.

"The night does keep secrets," she agreed softly. "But look — see how gently it holds them?"

Rusty looked. The wood was hushed and silver. The ferns swayed slow. The far hill sat calm beneath the stars, keeping whatever it kept, in no hurry at all.

"The rustle in the ferns will still be there tomorrow," said Mama Fox. "So will the hill, and the stream, and every path you haven't walked. The night isn't going anywhere. It's keeping all its wonders safe, just for you, until the morning."

"You mean I don't have to find them tonight?" Rusty asked.

"Not tonight," she said. "Tonight you rest. And your busy, clever mind rests too — so that in the morning it's bright and ready to wonder again."

Rusty let out a slow breath. His racing thoughts began to settle, like leaves drifting down to the forest floor, one by one, until they lay still.

He tucked his nose beneath his autumn-coloured tail. The secrets of the night waited, patient and safe, all around him.

"Goodnight, secrets," he whispered. "I'll find you tomorrow."

And the little fox, his clever mind quiet at last, drifted softly off to sleep.
