Mira the Unicorn and the Moonlit Meadow

In a meadow full of soft grass and silver flowers lived a little unicorn named Mira, with a mane that shimmered like spilled starlight.

All day long, Mira pranced and played. Wherever her little hooves touched the ground, tiny sparkles bloomed and drifted up like fireflies. She chased her own glittering tail in happy circles. She nuzzled the silver flowers until they giggled and glowed. She galloped to the top of the gentle hill and back again, leaving a trail of light behind her, just for the joy of it.

But when the sun went down and the big round moon rose over the meadow, turning everything soft and silver, Mira still wanted to play. Her little legs felt full of gallops, and her sparkles kept fizzing and popping in the cool night air.

The moon smiled down at her, kind and round and bright.

"Little one," the moon said softly, "the meadow is going to sleep now. Watch with me."

Mira stood still — which was very hard for her — and looked. One by one, the silver flowers were folding their petals closed. The tall grass lay down flat and still. Mira's own sparkles drifted slowly to the ground and faded, like little stars going gently out.

"Now you," whispered the moon. "Breathe in the cool night air, slow and deep."

Mira breathed in. The air smelled of dew and quiet and night-time flowers. Then she breathed out, long and slow, and her bright shimmer softened to a warm, gentle glow.

"Again," hummed the moon.

Mira breathed in… and out. In… and out. With each slow breath, the gallops in her legs grew calm, and the fizz in her sparkles grew still. Her horn dimmed to the soft glow of a nightlight.

She folded her legs neatly beneath her in the cool, soft grass. Her shimmering mane settled around her like a silken blanket.

"Goodnight, Mira," whispered the moon, pouring its gentle silver light over the whole sleepy meadow.

And the little unicorn closed her eyes and drifted off into magical dreams, glowing softly in the moonlit meadow.
